Camp Description
Leroo La Tau accommodates a maximum of 14 guests in 7 East African style Meru tents, each with en-suite bathroom, on raised wooden platforms. The main lounge and dining room area with its wooden and thatch finishes, offers guests the opportunity to relax at the bar while listening to the wide variety of night sounds of the African bush. Evenings can be spent alongside the fireplace which also overlooks the dry riverbed and the waterhole in front of the lodge.
Game Viewing
The Makgadikgadi National Park, 80 000 square kilometers in size, the destination of herds of migrating Zebra; it has an unspoilt beauty unlike that of any other part of Botswana. During the wet season, from late November through March and into April guests will experience enormous herds of the annual Zebra and Wildebeest migration. Birding is now fantastic, as the pans are filling up and guests will observe the migratory waterfowl (flamingos, storks, Wattled crane, ducks, terns, etc.) Night drives are a highlight and guests will view the migration and unique desert wildlife (Brown Hyena, Aardvark, Aardwolf etc).
During the dry or winter months, the migrations move westwards to the water available in the Boteti River but many desert-adapted creatures remain resident. This is the domain of the brown hyaena, a shy and elusive creature, as well as suricates, aardvarks and small bustard species.
Wildlife Activities
The lodge offers a variety of activities which include both day and night drives as well as day trips to Nxai Pans and the famous Baines’ Baobabs.
How to get there
SUNSAFARIS can arrange scheduled flights into Maun airport with Air Botswana. From Maun airport guests will be transferred by road to Leroo La Tau, the road transfer will take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Child Policy
Children of 12 years and older are welcome at Leroo La Tau.
Electricity
Generator power (AC 220V) is available during the day and evening. Video batteries can be re-charged. Tented accommodation is equipped with a 220-volt AC plug for hairdryers and torches are supplied for night use once the generator has been switched off.
