Leopard Hills
Kruger Park, South Africa

Introduction

Leopard Hills overlooks a natural waterhole and, situated close to the perennial Sand River, lives right up to its name. From your hilltop sanctuary, you may be lucky enough to catch sight of a leopard on the hunt, a breeding herd of elephant or some gracious kudu. Many species of antelope pass within view of the lodge, while in the reserve, Africa's big game abounds. On safari you may see prides of lion, herds of elephant, white rhino, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, hyena and many more. Leopard Hills spreads over 10,000 hectares of the world-renowned Sabi Sands Game Reserve which forms part of the greater Kruger National Park eco-system. Each day will be different as one explores the endless fascination of Africa's wildlife. Hippos wallow in the river, crocodiles bask on a quiet sand bank and overhead, majestic eagles keep watch. At the water's edge and in the riverine bush you will find hundreds of different species of birds. Out walking you will discover many of the fascinating small creatures of Africa.. and these are just a few of the amazing encounters that await you.

Camp Description

Enjoy the private verandah of your suite and the views of the bushveld while relaxing over a drink from your fully-stocked mini bar. Each of the luxurious glass-fronted suites, complete with their own sundeck and rock plunge pool, offer superb views of the bush beyond, while air-conditioning and overhead fans provide added comfort against the African summer heat. Back in camp after your early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives, you will be spoilt by the highest standards of service and fine cuisine, all couched in a welcoming warm, friendly and fun-filled atmosphere - just another special feature of Leopard Hills. They also have a new cellar brimming with racks of celebrated local and International wines. When the heat is on, cool down on the open air verandah, relax in the lounge with a drink, and when in Africa, do as the Africans do and sink below the refreshing surface of the swimming pool.

Game Viewing

Early morning and late afternoon/evening game drives, in search of Africa's big game, are conducted by your knowledgeable professional ranger. State-of-the-art Landrovers, specifically designed for Leopard Hills, have individual bucket seats with fold-down armrests, ensuring your optimum safety and comfort. Game viewing at Tangala is of a high standard and compares with the best in the world. Guests can expect to see lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other general game on game drives. As well as exciting bird watching. Wildlife activities here enable guests to 'touch, taste and smell' Africa. Your day begins with a game drive of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. Guests not only get close to Big Game but also learn to identify birds and trees, taste edible fruit, follow in the footsteps of animals great and small and learn about local bush lore. Become one with the bush as you track silently after the spoor of wildlife during game drives. The night game viewing is an experience of its own. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, the elusive genet, or predators hunting and stalking their prey.
