How to get there

Air
SUNSAFARIS can arrange scheduled flights for guests from most major airports in South Africa to an airport situated closest to their destination along the Panorama Route. Once guests arrive at their designated airport they can either make use of a rental car or take a private road transfer which SUNSAFARIS can arrange for them.

Land

Kruger Panorama Route Activities, Attractions and Seasons

Introduction

The Panorama Route also offers exquisite waterfalls in Graskop and Sabie as well as The Echo Caves that speak of Africa's powerful tribes such as the Pedi, Mapulane and the Swazi. The area is steeped in history and culture, trails left behind by the Voortrekkers in regions such as Lydenberg and Orighstad can be seen as well as ancient artistic footprints left by indigenous people of Africa and the Gold Rush territory. Pilgrim's Rest is a small picturesque town, home to the early gold prospectors.

Activities & Attractions

The Blyde River Canyon Reserve is the highlight of The Panorama Route and extends along the Blyde River Canyon's winding path, offering magnificent views over steep edges dropping 800 meters into the riverbed. Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve contains beautiful mountain scenery and views giving the area its name of 'Panorama Route'. Attractions on offer include God's Window and The 'Pinnacle' which is a single quartzite column rising out of the deep wooded canyon and the 'Three Rondavels' (also called 'Three Sisters') are three huge spirals of dolomite rock rising out of the far wall of the canyon. The Swadini Dam in the far distance marks the end of the reserve. Other attractions include the Echo Caves, Long Tom Pass, Ohrigstad Dam Nature Reserve, Horseshoe Falls and Perry's Bridge Reptile Park.


Seasons

The rainy season which occurs during the summer months are from October until the end of March. The area is slightly cooler than the close by low-lying Kruger areas; however warm rainy summers can be expected. The dry season or winter months are from April to September and days are usually pleasant with mild temperatures and cool nights.
