KICHECHE CAMP
Masai Mara
Kenya

Introduction

Located on the Aitong Plains in northern Koiyaki Lemek region of the famous Masai Mara, Kicheche Mara Camp is in a prime wildlife area. It is a classic tented camp hidden in a grove of wild olive and croton trees.

Camp Description

The camp accommodates up to 22 guests at anytime, thereby ensuring that a relaxed intimate atmosphere is maintained. The 11 Selous style tents are comfortably furnished with cedar beds, linen, bedside tables, luggage racks, rugs, en suite bathroom and 24 hour low watt lighting. Tents are positioned to offer guests private views overlooking the nearby plains and nearby hills. The spacious Nyati tent acts as the camp lounge with comfortable seating, a library, board games, cards and local crafts. Kichehce Camp' s cooks produce delicious and healthy meals, and the menu features both African and international dishes. Fresh produce is flown in regularly. Bread and pastries are baked daily. Guests may sit at the communal table with their hosts or are welcome to dine alone.

Game Viewing

The Masai Mara is Africa' s most famous reserve. Gazelle, wildebeest and zebra which graze in large numbers are preyed on by cheetah and leopard. It is however, the black-maned Mara lion who is the star of the show. Elephant, buffalo, kongoni, topi, waterbuck and primates are also found on the wide green gold savannahs of the Masai Mara. The Mara is home to the northern end of the wildebeest migration – that great surge of wildebeest, zebra and antelope who sweep in from Tanzania' s Serengeti. Large predators pick off their weak and young as they journey across the Mara. Long after the massive herds of wildebeest and zebra have passed, the plains are still home to an abundant of wildlife.
