Introduction

Jackalberry Lodge is situated within the Thornybush Private Game Reserve in the Kruger National Park, one of the world’s premier big five game viewing destinations. Jackalberry is an intimate lodge, offering magnificent views and luxury accommodation, a combination that will offer guests a unique safari experience.

Lodge Description

Thornybush Jackalberry Lodge can accommodate a maximum of 14 guests in 7 double rooms with en-suite, partially-open air bathrooms. The exquisite African Rondavel Style Bungalow sleeps 2 guests and comprises a queen-size bed, bathroom with shower and toilet, sitting area, cocktail bar, secluded veranda and carport. The Cottage at Thornybush Jackalberry Lodge sleeps 4 and consists of 2 bedrooms, each with 2 single beds, bathroom with shower and toilet. A fully equipped kitchen, living and dining room with air-conditioning, veranda and a terrace with braai area (barbecue) allow for a relaxed African experience. Guests can cool down at the lodges’ swimming pool or at the river. The lodge has a small air-conditioned area designed for conference facilities.

Game Viewing

Thornybush Private Game Reserve is home to more than 60 species of wildlife, including the big five, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino, hyena and cheetah. Jackalberry is also a paradise for birdwatchers, where more than 280 bird species have been recorded. Expert rangers and trackers conduct game drives in open safari vehicles every morning and evening. Walking safaris are also on offer. At the end of a day, superb cuisine is enjoyed at the open boma next to the pool where guests can relax by the crackling camp fire, listening to the night sounds of Africa as the animals come to drink at the floodlit waterhole.
