Grumeti River Camp, Serengeti
Introduction
The
remote Western Corridor of the Serengeti abounds with resident game all year
round. Grumeti lies in the path of the migration which in a typical year arrives
between June and July.
Grumeti
River Camp is set in the western corridor of the magnificent Serengeti National
Park on the banks of an oxbow which is formed by an overflow of the Grumeti
River. Supporting lush riverine forest, the Grumeti River provides a sharp
contrast to the surrounding plains and hosts some of the Serengetis more
unusual species, such as the black-and-white Colobus monkey (found only here,
and nowhere else in the Serengeti).
The
western corridor offers more than just an annual stop-off point for the
migration its colourful topography of hills, rivers and floodplains provides a
year-round habitat for a wide variety of the Serengetis wildlife.
