EDO'S CAMP

Introduction
In the western Kalahari Desert, located in a 120,000 hectare game conservancy is Edos Camp. Six of Botswanas endangered white rhino populations make this private sanctuary their home as well as numerous species of plants, birds and mammals, many only found in this region. The San, the true indigenous people of Southern Africa are also resident here and they provide a fascinating cultural perspective of traditional life. Edos Camp is an elite Botswana safari camp that offers a luxurious getaway for guests and it is great for those guests who are interested in both wildlife and culture.
Camp Description
This Botswana accommodation is set overlooking a water-filled pan and is surrounded by ancient Leadwood trees that provide much needed shade. All the tents are Meru tents and are on raised platforms under shady thatched roofs. The main area of this accommodation is also thatched and the raised platform offers a dazzling view overlooking the water. Guests are accommodated in four two-bedded luxury tents set on decks and under thatch all set around and overlooking an active waterhole. All of which provide welcoming protection from the desert sun, each tent is en-suite with shower, flush toilet and bath for additional comfort and you are guaranteed a personal and truly memorable Kalahari experience. Dinners are served with an African flair and are unique to this camp so guests can sit back and relax enjoying a truly memorable experience. There is also a laundry service available.
Edos camp offers the optional extra activity available for groups to occupy the full camp and Young Explorers families. As well as booking in advance for an evening of traditional song and dance. This safari experience is suitable for children as young as 6 years of age. A unique part of being at Edo's is that a percentage of the nightly rate is donated to a local orphanage/Day Care Centre established by the owner's of Edo's.
The camp is easily reached by road and air; commercial flights go to Maun Airport where you are taken to a private airstrip. Private charters take roughly 1 hour from Maun to Edos Camp. A road transfer to the camp will take roughly 20 minutes and from there you will be taken directly to the camp.
Game Viewing
Providing guests with a chance of viewing many species of mammal only found in this desert environment, game drives, together with personal guides in specifically designed vehicles depart daily. Among other rich cultural activities include walks with San bushman tracking white rhino on foot as well as joining the women and children of the village in collecting edible roots and plants an enthralling insight into their traditional life. You are offered this unique experience of tracking rhino on foot, in this area the white rhino have been successfully integrated into the habitat, producing 2 healthy babies in 2005. The best option however is to just sit down and enjoy sundowners in the Kalahari, while watching an elegant parade of antelope quenches their thirst around the watering hole. In the Kalahari Desert the variety of wildlife is very different from the deltas wildlife, providing a wonderful contrast. There are countless different desert species to see in Botswana. Gemsbok, Hartebeest, Kudu, Springbok, Wildebeest and Giraffe are just some of the animals that have adapted to the harsh desert conditions.
