VUYATELA
Kruger Park, South Africa
Kruger Safaris
Vuyatela means "come and visit again", a term that typifies African hospitality. Vuyatela is an expression of modern South African culture - a mix of different peoples from all corners of the world, the strongest influence being African.
South Africa has become the melting pot of Africa and our cultural heritage stretches from mud huts with thatch through to Great Zimbabwe to Kwaito (a new music form with elements of township jazz, hip-hop and rap, as well as reggae). Rural villages in South Africa epitomize this fusion of influences and the homesteads in such villages are an amalgamation of ancient building techniques through to modern building materials. The homesteads in these villages are a collection of small buildings, each in a different style.
Camp Description
Each of the chalets at Vuyatela is a collection of buildings joined to each other. The private lounge is separated from the bedroom by a beautiful Teak deck. You will notice that each of the buildings that make-up your chalet, or "Kaya" (Shangaan word for house), is built in a different technique. Some of the "Kayas" have abstract patterns painted on the walls and others have even domestic scenes painted on them.
Amenities include:8 luxury suites made up of bedroom, dressing-room and bathroom with bath and outdoor shower, separate lounge, private deck and plunge pool. Air-conditioning, fans, mosquito nets, a telephone and bar fridge are all included. The chalets reflect local architecture. Builders used corrugated iron and mud to achieve an authentic effect without sacrificing luxury in any way.
The main lodge includes a large double deck, outdoor dining, wine cellar, bar overlooking the watering hole, indigenous aquarium, suspended bird-watching tower. Also available is an internet library with detailed wildlife websites, gym and relaxation room.
Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and fresh bakes and dinner are offered daily. The idea of the cuisine is to take guests back to the basics of Southern African food with classic dishes, with emphasis placed on quality ingredients. Along with the simple, but impressive presentation, and the richness of African cuisine, the camp aims to intrigue the palates of the guests, leaving enough mystery for a return visit.
Game Viewing
Djuma Game Reserve is home to South Africas "Big 5", as well as cheetah, hyena, jackal, buck, giraffe, and zebra. Game drives begin early in the morning, when most of the animals are active and sightings are common. The early start also ensures that you dont miss out on the magical African sunrise. The lodge offers two safaris daily, as well as a daily guided walk in the bush. Guests not only get close to Big Game but also learn to identify birds and trees, taste edible fruit, follow in the footsteps of animals great and small and learn about local bush lore. Become one with the bush as you track silently after the spoor of wildlife during game drives.
Daily tours to a nearby Shangaan village are offered, where you will learn about the customs and traditions of the local people. Be enthralled by the sights and sounds of the African bushveld.
