This luxury 8 night safari offers guests the opportunity to discover the shimmering salt pans of the Makgadikgadi Pans. Along with the Nxai Pans they are believed to be the largest in the world. This safari offers total contrast between the arid landscape of the desert and the water wonderland of the Okavango Delta. This combination of desert and delta is Botswanas most outstanding feature. Activities include thrilling quad bike rides, game drives, night drives, bird walks, game walks with San Bushmen as well as the opportunity to learn about the social and inquisitive nature of the meerkats of the Kalahari Desert. Your delta experience will include game drives, night drives, mokoro rides, boating, fishing, walking safaris and excellent bird watching.

Itinerary

Maun/Maun Packge

Day 1 & 2 & 3: - Makgadikgadi Pans

On arrival at Maun airport, guests will be met by a representative and assisted to their light aircraft transfer to San Camp where they will be staying for 3 nights. Activities at San Camp include game drives, night drives, bird walks, game walks with Bushmen and thrilling quad bike rides.

San Camp is located deep in the Kalahari Desert on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, the largest saltpans in the world. A maximum of 12 guests are accommodated in 6 large walk-in green canvas tents on slightly elevated wooden platforms with en suite facilities (bucket showers and flush toilets).

Day 4 & 5: - Moremi Game Reserve

After breakfast and morning activities, guests will be transferred by light aircraft to Xigera Camp where they will be staying for 2 nights. Xigera has permanent water all year round, hence the emphasis is on water activities. Game drives are also available all year round. Activities at Xigera include mokoro rides, boating, walking safaris and excellent bird watching.

Xigera (pronounced Keejera) is one of the Okavango and Botswana's best kept secrets. Built in one of the most beautiful corners of the Okavango, Xigera Camp is is situated on "Paradise Island" within the Moremi Game Reserve. The new Xigera opened in April 2000. The old camp has been completely torn down and a wonderful new camp has been built on a new and better site on the island. Xigera has excellent birding. Pel's Fishing Owl, Wattled Crane, African Skimmers, Slaty Egret, Rufousbellied Heron, Swamp Boubou and a host of eagles, vultures and raptors will keep the bird~lover fully occupied. Kanana Camp is shaded by the Jackalberry and palm trees which open onto the peaceful reedbeds of the Xudum River. As Kanana Camp is in a private concession a wide range of activities is on offer, the focus however is the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta.

Day 6 & 7 & 8: - Okavango Delta

After breakfast and morning activities, guests will be transferred by light aircraft to Little Vumbura where they will be staying for 3 nights. Little Vumbura offers both land as well as water activities and include, game drives, guided walks, mokoro rides, boating, birding, fishing as well as night drives.

Little Vumbura is another of our very small camps. The camp accommodates ten guests on a wonderful island in the same region as its sister camp Vumbura in Botswana's Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura has five tents under an enormous canopy of ancient Okavango forest with ebony, marula, knobthorn, garcinia and fig being the dominant trees.Like Vumbura, this camp offers the full house of activities in boats, mekoros, walks, drives and fishing. Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 Land Rovers with experienced guides.

Day 9: - Maun

After breakfast and morning activities, guests are transferred by light aircraft back to Maun airport in time for their onward travel arrangements. End of services.
