Chobe National Park, Botswana

Chobe National Park Safari Lodge

Here is where the Chobe National Park is formed which is renowned for its elephant and large buffalo herds. In addition to its abundance of bird life and wild game, there is a variety of predators which decorate these beautiful waterways. Not only the wildlife but also the natural beauty of this area make it an unforgettable destination. Conveniently located 3km from Kasane International Airport and 80km from The Victoria Falls and Livingstone, Chobe Safari Lodge is easily accessible.

Game Viewing

With the Safari Lodge being on the doorstep of the Chobe National Park a unique experience is on offer. The National Park is acclaimed for being the best place in the world to see the majestic African elephant for it is home to the worlds largest elephant population. You are afforded the opportunity to take a game drive which departs three times daily or alternatively you can choose to go on a full days game drive and take along a picnic. Game viewing at Chobe is a unique experience as you are on the doorstep of the Chobe National Park, which hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in southern Africa. Cruises which are led by experts are available throughout the day to suit individual needs. This is a somewhat different way of viewing game, but during dry season this is an especially great way of viewing game as they congregate in their thousands at the waters edge to quench their thirst.

The park has an incredible variety of habitats, which range from floodplains, through verdant grasslands and thickets bordering the Chobe River to woodlands of baobab, mopane and acacia trees. Flowing along the park's northern boundaries are the Linyanti and Chobe Rivers, while in the south the Savuti Channel brings life to the Mababe Depression.

Elephants notwithstanding, the Chobe National Park has an amazing variety of game and many brilliantly coloured birds. The Savuti Channel, a strange waterway that seems to have a mind of its own, bisects the park. The channel was dry for one hundred years, then flooded abruptly in the 1950s and remained flooded till the 1980s, when shiftings of the subterranean tectonic plates caused it to dry up again.
