CAMP SHONGA
Kruger Park
South Africa

Introduction

Camp Shonga is a small intimate bush camp built in the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains; situated in a 15,000ha private concession in the south-eastern section of the Kruger National Park. The area is renowned for Big Five game viewing.

Camp Description

The camp can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests in 5 individual tents, all luxuriously equipped with en-suite bathrooms and ball and claw baths, outside showers, ceiling fans, a mini-bar, fireplace and private game-viewing decks with recliner chairs and umbrellas. The central facility consists of a lounge area including a library and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Spacious wooden deck from which to sip drinks as the game wanders past as well as a splash pool.

Game Viewing

Located in ‘Big 5’ territory, guests can expect a good all-round safari experience. Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino, cheetah, hippo and crocodile plus a multitude of general game and over 450 bird species may be viewed from the comfort and safety of the open game drive vehicle. Professional armed rangers and trackers accompany all game drives and guided bush walks. The safaris depart just after sunrise every morning in an open fully equipped vehicle. Tracking Africa's big five; the evening safari leaves after afternoon tea and continues into the night after sundowners. The evening holds a sense of anticipation as the rare and elusive nocturnal species begin their night activities.
