CAMP SHAWU
Kruger Park
South Africa

Introduction

Camp Shawu is situated in a 15,000 hectare private concession in the south-eastern section of the Kruger National Park. Camp Shawu paints a picture of the ‘real Africa’ described by famous explorers of colonial times. Private decks overlooking the Mpanamana Dam is a highlight.

Camp Description

The Camp can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests in 5 large rooms overlooking the Mpanamana dam. All are luxuriously equipped with romantic ball and claw baths, a mini bar, sitting area facing open fireplace, ceiling fans and outside showers. A large verandah with reclining chairs and umbrellas is the perfect spot from which to watch the game come down to drink. Facilities consist of a lounge, indoor and outdoor dining area as well as a splash pool.

Game Viewing

Activities at Camp Shawu include game drives, bird watching and self drives into the area. Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles and lead by expert guides and trackers. Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino, cheetah, hippo and crocodile plus a multitude of general game and over 450 bird species may be viewed from the comfort and safety of the open game drive vehicle. The professional armed rangers and trackers conduct all game drives ensuring that rare bird species and the more fascinating fauna and flora are not overlooked. The safaris depart just after sunrise each day in an open fully equipped vehicle. Tracking Africa's big game, the evening safari leaves after afternoon tea and continues into the night as the rare and elusive nocturnal species begin their night activities.
