Seasons
The climate in the Kruger National Park is regarded as subtropical; the summer months are hot and humid with occasional afternoon showers. The winter’s months are cool and dry with clear blue skies.
Summer is usually from October until March with hot and humid days as well as afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures during the day reach approximately 32 degrees Celsius with cooler more pleasant evenings following. The summer rains turn the region into a lush green bushland, the vegetation becomes dense, hence finding animals is more difficult.
Winter, also called the dry season, is usually from April to September, with warm days and spectacular blue skies. The early mornings and evenings are fairly cold. Water is scarce during the winter months; hence animals gather around the waterholes and are easier to find which offers better game viewing opportunities.
