Introduction
Situated in the isolated north eastern part of the Okavango Delta and set in the heart of the wilderness is one of Botswanas prime game viewing regions. Offering a little touch of paradise, Okutis elegantly thatched chalets are set on rolling green lawns. This inviting camp lies alongside the Maunachira River which flows through the Xakanaxa Lediba, within the well renowned Moremi Game Reserve. The ecosystem consists of shallow floodplains and papyrus lined waterways contrasted with dense forests.
Camp Description
This small and private camp in the Okavango Delta in Botswana caters for a maximum of 22 guests, the thatched chalets constructed in insect-proof materials each have en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. Bottled drinking water is provided in addition to filtered natural water and 24 hour hot water is provided in all tents. The main feature of this Botswana safari accommodation is to provide guests with comfort and safety and the lowest exposure to mosquitoes. Solar panels provide power, and ceiling fans are installed in each chalet. Chalet faces west and overlooks one of the Deltas most spectacular lagoons with stunning African sunsets. The staff and managers will look after your every need ensuring that you have all your requirements and needs met. With the exception of the family chalet, the other chalets are twin shares, perfect for families, Okuti is a child friendly lodge and accepts children from the age of 7 years and up in both the low and high season, in low season however you may apply for younger children as the activities offer at Camp Okuti are of a safe nature.
An open bar and lounge over look the Maunachira River and in the evenings guests can sit and relax around the aromatic wood campfire in the boma after dinner. The highly qualified chef prepares a variety of delectable African dishes perfected suited to this class of establishment, which include fresh bread baked daily. Listening to the sounds of the night over liqueurs and coffee in the sunken lounge all contribute to unwinding after a days excitement. Camp Okuti offers a motorboat transfer to Shinde, which provides an attractive alternative. Clients that may want to drive in 4WD and they can be accommodated.
Game Viewing
Moremi Game Reserve offers unhindered views for game viewing and photography which take place from the specially designed vehicles for safaris. For first time visitors to Botswana, Moremi is a park rich in wildlife and with game viewing consistent all year round it is ideal. You will enjoy regular sightings of elephant and buffalo as well as leopards and lion. The surroundings are with out a doubt some of the most unique areas that exist in Africa today. The deltas waterway is a birdwatchers paradise, best explored by motorboat, the lagoons and winding channels are fantastic breeding grounds for herons and storks. The area is said to be home to about 40 species of endangered birds. The reserve has widely varied habitats supporting immense varieties of wildlife. And in the heat of the day a fantastic feature is to sit under the shade of the trees and have a picnic while relishing and absorbing the scents and scenes of the Okavango Delta.
