BUFFALO CAMP
Kruger Park, South Africa
Kruger Park Safari Lodge
Reminiscent of an East African safari camp of old, Buffalo Camp offers visitors a unique and intimate experience of the African bush. It is ideally suited to those who wish to discover the bush without compromising on comfort. Since the camp accommodates only 16 guests, special attention is devoted to personalized service. With the guidance of knowledgeable game rangers and its unrivalled comfort, Buffalo Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush.
Kapama Private Game Reserve occupies a vast area between the northern Drakensberg mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park. In the Limpopo Province the reserve covers an area of approximately 13000 hectares and comprises spectacular topographical and mammal and bird specie diversity. Characterised by rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests the reserve supports no less than 42 mammal species and approximately 350 bird species. Amongst the mammal species is the ‘Big 5’ – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino.
Camp Description
Set in an indigenous garden, the accommodation facilities, thatched bar, dining-room and campfire area contribute to the intimate ambience of the camp. At night, lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow under the canopy of treetops. The camp's refreshing swimming pool offers respite from the heat of the African summer or the day's adventures may be shared in the cool open-air bar with its spectacular view over the river bed. Eight luxury canvas tents, each accommodating two guests, are set on stilts amongst the canopies of ancient trees which line a seasonal river. Each of the en suite tents are inter connected with wooden walkways, which run high above the riverbed. Landscaped by mother nature herself, the entertainment facilities which include lounge, dinning room and boma are surrounded by an indigenous garden. Each tent features twin beds with ensuite showers.
Game Viewing
Accompanied by highly skilled game rangers, guests set out on early morning and evening game drives, to discover the wonder of the African bush and a unique encounter with its majestic inhabitants. Guests can expect to see lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other general game on game drives. As well as exciting bird watching. Wildlife activities here enable guests to 'touch, taste and smell' Africa. Your day begins with a game drive of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. Guests not only get close to Big Game but also learn to identify birds and trees, taste edible fruit, follow in the footsteps of animals great and small and learn about local bush lore. Become one with the bush as you track silently after the spoor of wildlife during game drives. The night game viewing is an experience of its own. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, the elusive genet, or predators hunting and stalking their prey.
