OVERLAND SAFARI
African Safari
Highlights include wild camping, game viewing in open 4x4 safari
vehicle, game walks, game cruise on the Chobe River, mokoro (dugout
canoes) excursion (water level permitting) in the Okavango Delta
area of Moremi and 2 nights in Victoria Falls.
Itinerary
DAY 1: JOHANNESBURG - KALAHARI DESERT
We depart at 06h30 from the Randburg Towers, in Randburg, north
of Johannesburg and travel in the direction of the Botswana border.
We install our bushcamp in the Kalahari Desert. In the evening we
admire the bright stars of the southern hemisphere around our campfire.

DAY 2: KALAHARI DESERT - MAUN
We arrive in Maun - the 'gateway' to the Okavango Delta. We prepare
for the excursion in the delta and organize last supplies before
going into the bush. (All meals)
DAY 3/4: OKAVANGO DELTA AREA OF MOREMI
We set up our bushcamp in a remote area and explore the delta by
mokoro or boat (subject to the water level of the delta). The birdlife
is prolific and we take time to simply appreciate the remoteness
and serenity of the Okavango. (All meals)
DAY 5/6: MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE
Moremi Wildlife Reserve, created in 1968 by the Tawana tribe, is
considered by many travellers to be the finest game park in southern
Africa. The reserve is situated in the northern corner of the Okavango
Delta. It is a pure wilderness area of great beauty, with rich green
vegetation, palm trees, teeming with birdlife and a vast population
of wild animals. We spend our time exploring the reserve in our
open 4x4 safari vehicle. (All meals)
DAY 7: MOREMI - OKAVANGO RIVER LODGE
We return to Maun for an optional scenic flight (own expense) over
the Okavango Delta. (All meals)
DAY 8/9: CHOBE RIVER
The 11 600 km² Park contains one of the largest concentrations
of wild animals in Africa. Vast herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra,
kudu, lechwe, puku and many others inhabit the waterways of Chobe.
Predators such as lion and leopard are regularly observed. Chobe
is famous for its beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets. We
enjoy an early morning game-drive and in the afternoon a game viewing
cruise on the Chobe River. (All meals).
DAY 10/11: VICTORIA FALLS/ LIVINGSTONE "MOSI-OA-TUNYA"
- THE SMOKE THAT THUNDERS
We travel across the Zimbabwean or Zambian border to Victoria Falls
- without doubt one of the greatest and most spectacular sights
in Africa, where the waters of the mighty Zambezi River tumble down
in continuous thunder. Days spent at leisure for optional excursions.

DAY 12: MAKGADIKGADI PANS
The pans are the remains of a gigantic ancient lake of 6 500 km²
where the Okavango River used to flow. The sunset over the pans
is unforgettable. (All meals).
DAY 13: MAKGADIKGADI PANS - MOLALA TAU
We cross the Limpopo River into South Africa and install our camp
at Molala Tau (the resting place of the lion). We enjoy the grassy
campsite under the shade of acacia trees. (All meals).
DAY 14: JOHANNESBURG
We return to the Randburg Towers, Johannesburg at +-16h00. (Breakfast
and lunch).
The itinerary will depend on local conditions.
Participation Safari
The safari requires participation. Camp duties are shared amongst
the participants. A camp assistant/cook helps the guide with the
cooking. Your participation and involvement is part of the fun.
It builds the group dynamic and plays an important role in the enjoyment
and success of the safari.
Guides
The entire safari is guided and hosted by professional guides,
who share their in-depth knowledge to present a seamless safari
experience.
