Walking on safari has always been regarded as one of the finest ways to get a feel for the African wilderness. Chitabe Walking Trails is set in one of Okavango's best areas for walking, and offers a true walking trail experience for guests who want to be closest to nature, get their feet on the ground and really feel, smell and touch Africa.


Itinerary

Maun/Maun Packge

Day 1: 4 nights/5 days

On arrival at Maun airport, you will be met by a representative and assisted to your light aircraft transfer to Chitabe Camp where guests will be staying for one night before commencing their Walking Trail safari. Fully serviced Walking Trail. Guests walk approximately 3-4 hours in the morning to a pre-prepared brunch site. Relax and siesta during the heat of the day. Then walk about 1 hour 30 minutes in the afternoon to the hide where a sundowner awaits them. A wonderful dinner is enjoyed and then overnight on the elevated hide platform before they set off again the next morning to the next Camp. These safaris are flexible to guests' needs and vehicle back-up is available should guests prefer to do a mixture of walking and driving to/from or between the hide and camp.

Chitabe (pronounced Chitaabee) is located in a 28000 hectare photographic reserve alongside the Moremi Game Reserve. The reserve's boundary in the east is the Gomoti Channel and the Santantadibe River in the west. The area is made up of a superb variety of habitats, which include waterways and marshlands, dry acacia and mopane woodland, riverine areas, open grasslands and seasonally flooded plains. Chitabe has the classic Okavango scenery. Chitabe offers guests game drives in open 4x4 vehicles during the day and at night, as well as nature walks. This is not a water activities camp. Chitabe has been operational since 1997 and has developed an outstanding reputation.

Day 2 & 3

Walking Trails

Day 4:

Guests will walk to Chitabe Camp today where they will be staying for 1 night.

The camp itself is situated on one of the most beautiful islands in the Delta. Surrounded by ancient ebony, leadwood and sausage trees, Chitabe offers eight luxurious, twin~bedded, East African style tents, built on elevated wooden decks under a lush canopy of indigenous trees.Wildlife seen here includes Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Wildog are also known to frequent the area. Guests should also see Zebra, Reedbuck, Giraffe, kudu, Impala, and all the plains game.

Day 5:

Guests will be transferred by light aircraft back to Maun airport, in time for their onward travel arrangements. End of services.
