The Selinda Walking Trail is an excellent way to experience the remote wilds of northern Botswana is on foot. Guests will explore the pristine Selinda ecosystem, the unique features of the floodplains of the Kwando and Linyanti waterways, and the Selinda Spillway. This safari experience offers a superb escape from the busy city life - a chance to reconnect with nature. The Trail is for reasonably fit guests over the age of 16 years.
Itinerary Maun/Maun Packge
Day 1: 4 nights/5 days
On arrival at Maun airport, you will be met by a representative and assisted to your light aircraft transfer to Selinda Camp where you will overnight before commencing your walking trail safari.
A designated area has been set aside in the Selinda Reserve for walking safaris. Guests undertaking walking safaris,
commence their safari at of one of the permanent camps (Selinda
Camp or Zibalianja Camp), then break away onto the walk,
which ends up three days later, at the other permanent camp for the last night. In total, this is usually a five day
safari.
The trails camps have Meru-style tents, a hot bucket shower, and a flush loo. All meals are fully prepared by the
staff at the trails camps and laundry service is provided. Guests will walk approximately 6-8 kilometres in the
morning, and 4 kilometres walking in the vicinity of the camps each afternoon. Enjoy the skills and bush knowledge
of a traditional bushman tracker. Night game drives will be offered at the trails camps and guests may also do some
fishing and birding if they wish. Selinda Camp is situated in the Selinda, a 135 000-ha reserve that straddles the Selinda Spillway. The camp overlooks this ephemeral waterway which links the Okavango Delta with the game-rich floodplains of the Linyanti Swamps. Guests can also enjoy a small curio shop, plunge pool and traditional campfire.The Selinda is a private wildlife concession located in Botswana's northern Kwando/Linyanti Wildlife Management Area. It is a 135 000-hectare reserve that straddles the Selinda Spillway, an ephemeral waterway that links the Okavango Delta to the game-rich floodplains of the Linyanti Swamps and the Zibadianja Lagoon, source of the Savuti Channel.
Day 2 & 3
Selinda Walking Trails has two trails camps in two contrasting areas. Mokoba Camp is located on the fringes of an enormous open plain, close to the Kwando waterways. This open savannah area is usually teeming with wildlife of all shapes and sizes. Then there is Tshwene Camp which is located to the west within a more forested area in a completely contrasting location. Spending a night at each camp gives guests the most wonderful walking safari experience.
Day 4:
Guests will walk to Selinda
Camp today where they will stay for one night. Selinda Camp is situated in the Selinda, a 135 000-ha reserve that straddles the Selinda Spillway. Guests can also enjoy a small curio shop, plunge pool and traditional campfire.The Selinda is a private wildlife concession located in Botswana's northern Kwando/Linyanti Wildlife Management Area.
Day 5:
Guests will be transferred by light aircraft back to Maun airport, in time for their onward travel arrangements.
