Yes, back all safe and sound. I really enjoyed SA, it was an experience and very different to the UK.

The safari experience was great. I saw the big five almost every day! So after 6 days it was like: NOT ANOTHER leopard.

In terms of the Motswari and Nottens, well Motswari was an absolute pleasure. The service was fantastic and the whole atmosphere was of one big family. The food was fab, especially the breakfasts! If i went back on safari, i would definitely go there and recommend it to anyone. I’m afraid my experience at Nottens was not so great. The service was not good: no one helped us with our bags or offered us a drink after i told them we had been travelling for 3 hours. When i told them i was vegetarian, they said they didn’t know, and offered me a ready meal for the first night ( i think they were trying to be helpful). The maid who cleaned our room kept throwing things away that she thought was rubbish, but that were not, like my contact lens cases!

I also think at Motswari because they do not have as much game as the Sabi Sands, the trackers reply on their skill more, and have to be very proactive in finding game. They were also very communicative and tell you everything: from birds to plants to wildlife. At Nottens, my tracker was a lovely man, but just did not tell me very much and also did not seem to be hungry to find the animals. I asked to swap trackers at Nottens and things got a little better. At Nottens, they also forgot my morning drink and sundowner twice. They just didn’t seem on the ball really. I also think the food was not that great.

Rob, made a good point and said that Nottens were just not able, or used to, looking after people who had requirements that were out of the usual, eg vegetarian, did not drink tea/coffee in the morning etc.

On a positive note, the swimming pool at Nottens was amazing and bush walks were better than Motswari!

I did speak to Dell, one of the owners, and he was lovely and apologied. But unfortunately, i think some of the staff were not happy with the feedback and got a few digs from them.
