Brett assisted a US couple with their safari plans to South Africa and Botswana. Read their feedback below.
The trip exceeded our expectations. You did a great job.
Tanda Tula was a perfect place to start. It could be a Relais et Chateau if they wanted. Wonderful staff, great food, imaginative management. My only concern was that it was almost impossible to personally be active- everything was done for us. Highly recommended for a first place to visit.
Camp Moremi was almost the same - great staff, good food, good game. I think having only one night there meant we had less opportunity to get to know the people and the place, which was unfortunate. (Unfortunately the Smith's flight with Air Botswana to Maun was delayed so they missed their connecting light air transfers into Camp Moremi and so had to overnight in Maun, otherwise they would have spent 2 nights at Camp Moremi - Brett)
Camp Okavango was our favorite - great to be able to go on long guided game walks (saw 14 lions on foot) and spend casual time on the water. We wished we could stay longer. Some people might not like Okavango as much- you are much more involved with nature there (fabulous birds too) and there are risks that some people don’t like- i.e. being far from ‘civilization’, snakes, animals while you are on foot.
Frankly, when we went to Cape Town it was a lovely city but no match for these camps in the bush.
My wife is already talking about returning to Africa- perhaps not such a luxurious trip next time- and seeing Mozambique, or Namibia, or north to Zambia.
Thanks for all your hard work
Steve Smith
