Sun Safaris Review 9 Botswana Safari

Lovely Botswana Safari Circuit – Client Feedback

Botswana Safari Circuit

Natasha booked Eileen and Kate on a Botswana Safari where they started in the Central Kalahari at Haina Kalahari Lodge. From there they flew to the Okavango Delta and the lovely Machaba Camp. They ended on the Chobe River at Chobe Elephant Camp.

Hi Natasha,

The trip went well.  The lodge in the Kalahari had an excellent guide, delicious coffee and rucks and wonderful standard accommodations.  The guide was excellent – Mozilla – and that is key.  Food was average but that is fine, the coffee was fantastic.  Great lion sightings.

The camp in the Okavango was terrific.  Great hosts, fun guests, wonderful people worked there.  Guides were good, but did not coordinate with each other enough and we missed out on a good sighting.  The hosts were some of the best I have ever met.  Beautiful setting.  Food I think was good.  It is all about the coffee for me.  Great wild dog sightings.

Chobe – camp was mediocre.  The room was nice, but the people who worked there except one or two were underwhelming.    The park is wonderful and you mixing the Kalahari, Okavango and Chobe is great.  The people who stayed at the Chobe Elephant Camp were some of the best we met.  That was a real plus.  There was no wifi.  Not that you really need wifi, but it surprised me as Chobe is more in the grid than the others.  The area is too populated for me.  I liked the other areas better, but Chobe offers great animal sightings.

Overall I enjoyed the entire trip.

Hi Natasha,

A brief overview.

First of all the light aircraft and the meeting/greeting/transfers were EXCEPTIONAL … flawless.

Hana Lodge was great – and our guide here wanted us to have an excellent experience.  We called him Mos – forget his full name – but he went out on his own to track a family of lions (not quite a pride) and then when we went out that afternoon he knew exactly where they were.

Machaba lodge was great and the staff – exceptional – they really went out of their way to ensure a great safari experience.

Elephant Camp in Chobe – loved the animal sighting here and the guide on the Chobe River really went out of his way to ensure great viewing.  We watched families of elephants “swim” across the Chobe River – it was awesome.  It was also the most giraffes I have ever seen.  The camp was not luxury but it was enjoyable.

What I liked about all these camps was the timing of the meals.  I have been in camps where you no sooner finish breakfast then you are being served lunch.  These camps really gave you time during the day to enjoy the camp.

The other travelers in all camps were just great.

All in all a really great experience.   I was pleased and look forward to returning to Africa again.

Eileen
