Cape Town Voted as the Second Best City in the World

Wow. Cape Town, yet again, has received a plethora of awards for being an outstanding city and beach destination in Africa. Cape Town keeps on being nominated! The most recent award, announced on the 18th October, is for being the second best city in the world to visit! If this were a beauty pageant I’d expect Cape Town to jump up and shout “I’d like to thank my mom – mother Africa, who made this moment possible and all our visitors for their continuous support”! Style, looks and personality continue to make this an increasingly popular holiday destination. And, with the current exchange rate, it’s an affordable destination.

Being “put on the map” with all the votes received from Condé Naste Traveller and TripAdvisor significantly boosts a destination’s reputation. Thank you to all the readers who voted for our city. The best part about the below awards is that it’s user-driven. This means that the results convey an accurate portrayal of what and where travellers enjoy vacationing.

Without further ado, here are a list of the awards Cape Town received in 2012:

1. TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards ranked Cape Town in the Top 25 destinations in the world to visit.
2. TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards saw Cape Town being voted as the eighth best beach destination in Africa.
3. Condé Naste Traveller readers voted Cape Town as the number one city in Africa to visit.
4. In the 25th annual readers choice survey, Condé Naste Traveller voted Cape Town as the second best city in the world to visit!
5. The Cape Town International Airport has been nominated in the World Travel Award category for Africa’s leading airports – watch this space.

So, why should you book a holiday package to Cape Town? Hello. Have you seen the beaches flanked by mountains, the sweeping vineyards and have you felt the balmy Summer days? You haven’t? Well then it’s about time you visited Cape Town.  After all, Condé Naste and TripAdvisor readers can’t be wrong.
