Bilimungwe Bush Camp South Luangwa Zambia
Introduction
Bilimungwe is a luxury camp in Zambia offering its guests the most incredible Zambian experience. Traditional yet charming, Bilimungwe, is the embodiment of the traditional African safari camp. Situated in the heart of the South Luangwa National Park, Bilimungwes two major features, the extensive open plains and the shady watering hole, draw some of the most varied game within the park.
From the patio of one of the four thatched en-suite chalets guests can view game interacting along the open plain or they can travel a short distance to the communal deck where wildlife gather to drink at the secluded watering hole.
Camp Description
Set beneath the magnificent Mahogany trees, on the edge of a small plain, Bilimungwe is a cool and comfortable camp.
Accommodation at Bilimungwe consists of 4 reed and thatched chalets, all have their own en-suite bathrooms that each have a shower and a toilet. There are 2 queen-sized beds in each of the chalets and they are equipped with large mosquito nets for comfortable sleeping and relaxing. All the lights are on a rechargeable system.
These charming chalets can sleep comfortably 6 guests but can offer up to 8 people if they all belong to one group. The raised deck have a very traditional dining and bar area perfect to unwind in together with a fully stocked bar which offers idyllic views of the wildlife down at the water hole.
The thatched roof makes sure you have a cool and comfortable stay and if you take a short walk from your chalet you can find a spot to wade in the shallow waters of the Luangwa River, while still enjoying a cool, afternoon sundowner.
The camps chef Joe whips up a storm in minutes as guests relax around the fire as they prepare to enjoy a delicious meal.
Game Viewing
A truly great experience offered at Bilimungwe is the tracking of animals and watching the mighty Crocodile feed on its prey.
The camp specializes in walking safaris, but other vehicles can be arranged through the camp. As each season changes so does the vegetation, in the winter months the Luangwa valley is barren and very dry and the summer months the area is completely transformed into a wilderness wonderland that is lush and fertile.
This valley in Zambia is home to a multitude of species of wildlife. The South Luangwa National Park in Luangwa Valley is renowned for being one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in Africa because of its diversity.
Activities range from walking safaris, vehicle safaris or a great combination of the two. The guides that accompany you on your game viewing experience are all highly qualified and experienced. They will teach you how to track wildlife and how to listen out for dangerous predators that may approach.
