Tanzania Under Canvas, Serengeti
Introduction
This is a migratory
camp, and tent locations have been carefully plotted to coincide with the
documented movements of the annual Great Migration as it traverses the Serengeti
plains. The aim is to position the camps within easy driving distance of the
migration on your daily game drives. Immense preparation and effort goes into
moving the camp every two to three weeks in order to bring guests as close
as possible to the migration. However, with nature being as unpredictable as it
is, close proximity to the mass herds cannot always be guaranteed, as campsites
do have to be booked well in advance.
Guests do not
actually witness the physical transition of the camp it all happens seamlessly
and magically behind the scenes. The camp is dismantled and reassembled in its
new location, without the guests having to worry about a thing. Guests are
conveniently flown to a nearby airstrip, where they are met and transferred
(complimentary) directly to the newly assembled camp.
Location
The thrill of Tanzania Under Canvas can be
experienced year round. The following is a general guideline for camp movements:
December to April southern Serengeti
plains.
May and June central or western Serengeti
plains
July to November northern and eastern
Serengeti Plains
When the migration moves across the border
into Kenya the Tanzania Under Canvas camp sites will be selected to coincide
with great resident game locations. The Kleins Camp site affords guests not
only the incredible experience of staying Under Canvas but also allows for
walking safaris and night drives.
Guests are offered
up-close accommodation for the duration of the Great Migration in the Serengeti.
